Narrow, gently winding streets with every intersection meeting at a landscaped circles, crescents, or squares were laid out. Thousands and thousands of trees, selected by McLaren and Mclellan, and many transplanted from the San Francisco World Fair, were planted on the formerly barren landscaped. Noted architects, Bernard Maybeck, Willis Polk, and Julia Morgan designed magnificent country homes, many in the arts and crafts style, most now restored to their former glory.
