Beautiful San Mateo Park

San Mateo Park was designed in the late 19th century by world renown landscape architect, and horticulturist, John McLaren, the designer of San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. As a testament to John McLarens' vision and values, San Mateo park is, today, as much a park as it is a residential community. Everywhere, among the undulating lanes, are landscaped circles, crescents and squares.
The tens of thousands of trees that were planted in what were open fields now tower above the residences and canopy over the quiet streets, creating the veritable forest that is the heart of San Mateo Park. From the flowering Magnolias, rows of Palms, giant redwoods, pines, Cypress, and almost every other kind of tree, San mateo park is a botanical garden, and horticutural dream.
The architectural styles in San Mateo park include works by such renown architects as Julia Morgan, Bernard Maybeck, and John Howard, and represent every venacular from the Queen Anne Victorian, to the Arts and Crafts, and the period revivals of the 20's and 30's. Throughout San Mateo park are weathered Stone walls, wood and metal arbors, shingled gables and turrets.
Unique in the United States and perhaps even the world, San Mateo Park is only 20 miles south of San Francisco, and within an easy commute of silicon valley and the booming biotech industry.
The quaint Village of Burlingame with its' world class shopping and dining is just a few miles away, as are the commuter train depot and all conveniences and amenities.
Within San Mateo park, and within walking distance from most San Mateo Park homes, is Park Elementary school. Private schools are also nearby. In a changing and dynamic world, San Mateo park remains an constant of serenity and reflection, a great investment in the quality of life.
